Fundations® Full Day Workshops

Fundations® is a research-based supplemental Tier 1 and intervention,Tier 2 program that provides students in kindergarten through third grade with a solid foundation for reading and spelling. Fundations® provides explicit and highly systematic daily instruction in key areas necessary in effective reading, including: phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, word and syllable study, vocabulary, sight word instruction, fluency, and word and sentence writing practice. Critical thinking, speaking and listening skills are practiced during regular storytime activities. Fundations® is designed to supplement literature-based language arts programs.

Fundations® Level K/1 and Level 2 Workshops provide practice and guidance needed to effectively begin teaching the Fundations® curriculum.  At the completion of the workshop attendees will be able to :

• Identify the skills and components of effective reading and spelling instruction
  

• Describe how Fundations® Levels K and 1 or 2 teach these skills through activities
  

• Recognize how Fundations® materials facilitate multisensory interactive learning
  

• Practice the Fundations® Level K and 1 or 2 Activities
  

• Optimize the use of the Fundations® Level K-1 or 2 Teacher's Manual
  

• Determine the weekly schedule and prepare a lesson
